Why WoW is a bad game, reason #2

Quest design

Basicly, you'll be doing the same thing as a level 60 as when you first started the game as level 1. Almost all quests require you to kill something X numbers of time, and some of them requires you to gather things like 20 bear tooths that got a mere 10% drop rate. You'll be finding yourself killing the same enemies over, and over. Quests doesn't get better if it says "I baked a pie today! Go and kill me 20 bears" than if it would say "Kill 20 bears", the problem is that the quests are repetitive.

Iverron's Antidote

We may be able to help Iverron, as I know of an antidote that should help with the poison. It requires some ingredients, though, before I can make it.

I'll need Hyacinth mushrooms. You can find these growing under trees, or you may collect them from the grell south of here; they seem to have taken a liking to them. I'll also need Moonpetal lilies, which only grow around watery pools.

The last ingredient may prove the most difficult. From the very spiders that poisoned Iverron, collect Webwood ichor.

Westfall Stew

Help me make some Westfall Stew! Come back with the following ingredients:

3 Stringy Vulture Meat
3 Goretusk Snouts
3 Murloc Eyes
3 Okra

Farren's Proof

Would you believe it? Redpath wasn't satisfied with all the murlocs we killed--oh now, don't be modest, you had some hand in it. Now he wants me to bring proof of the dead, hacking off cold, slimy murloc heads to submit for his approval.

Supply and Demand

"The finest leathercrafter of the South Seas and the worlds old and new." That's what they call me. Me! Drizzlik! The finest lea... Ahem. Well.

My leather goods are known far and wide as the most exquisite, a connoisseur's choice!

I've just received an order from Director Riddlevox of the Tinkers' Union for a dozen of his favorite Excelsior-line boots. Our best sellers, actually.

To start on the basic shape, I'll need crocolisk skins from the crocs along the river in northern Stranglethorn.

Dragonkin Menace

Life in the Burning Steppes is rife with conflict.

Just look at this place! We know very little of what happened to these buildings, but we do know that at one time, before the great explosion, this was all part of the Redridge mountain range.

Enough lamenting! We have a problem. You may have noticed the dragonkin below this ridge. We need assistance in pushing them back. Kill as many as you can and return to me. Succeed and perhaps we can talk of other things.

And again 100% agreed. - There are some rare exeptions, but most of the time it's all the same.

yap, i too agree 100% on that they need to make quests more different. Theres a quest in xroads that you need to get 4 zebras hoofs and i dont remember what the drop rate was but it was like 20%, anyway so if you kill a zebra and they dont drop a hoof that means taht they dont have any hoofs?

I agree, but how are you meant to make it any different besides these types:

Collect ## of x from y
Kill ## of x
Speak to x

There's little else you can do with a game like WoW...

Worst thing is on alliance side where you have to kill like 100 spiders, boars again and again from level 1 to 20 for all those fucked up recipes.

Try playing on an RP server.
Roleplay is a good alternativ if you dont wanna quest ... ' dont know if you have such things on the US servers but if youre intrested try EU server there'll find some RP

have fun there

No, but it implies that during the course of combat you pretty much destoryed or mangled what you are meant to find to the point it is worthless.

If all these "Get x number of y item from z creature" had 100% drop rate, people would fly through content even quicker than they do now, and thats not good for Blizzard.

This has to be one of the best posts I have seen on this site! He has it right....get a life if you dont like it? Are you like a cult that is trying to convert people to the way of "We Despise(No clue what yall are talking about) and you should too because I don't like it" Cult?! Just drop it and get a life. Because you know whats gonna happen in time anyway? You will get bored of the game you are into right now and 3 months from now here is the mananger of this site "So and so sucks because of the same reason that my old site said that things suck! Agree with me !!!"....Just drop it your poor, socially inept people...

Peace Out

And another thing i just noticed! The person that got the pics for this site must be a hard core player to because, how did you get all of these gameshots!?...Seems like the site manager is just an instagater...or he just wants to seem cooler by discrediting things...Not really working pal...

I think you're right about this, but I don't think there are much alternatives. What kind of quest types (that aren't in WoW) do other MMORPG's offer?

what do you do in real life ?
dont you do the same work every day too ?

for you its alle the same, because you reduce the quest to "collect" or "kill"

if you really read the story, it dosent seem much same, like your are here say.

i remind a quest in darkwood, goes over westfall darkwood back again, and then to goldshire, than to stormwind.

the quest with the ghost, where you have to read his book and sometimes, there comes the ghost.

sure, its just "collect" & "kill" but, when youre really in the story, you dont care.

greetings

stop complaining and make a better game

you complain and yet you play it. if you are going to bad mouth something, at least bad mouth something you are not an addict of. for you to play all those different characters THAT much, you need to spend a little more time in RL...I've really noticed a lot of these "problems" being some things that are just not reasonable to expect from a GAME. this is intended to be an entertainment and not so much of a replacement for life.

Ok these are the types of quests I can think of at the moment:
1.kill x Amount
2.kill x mob until it drops x amount
3.X chance x mob drops item that begins a quest
4.Escort
5.go from point x to point y
6.go to point x and destory x amount of item (ones on the ground).
7.go to point x and use quest item on x amount of buildings.
8.bombing mobs(TBC)
9.capture a certain point (pvp)
10.timed versions of other quests
11.find a specific mob
12.Exlpore a certain place
13.listen to(i guess go from point a to point)
14. and then some always rare quests(cluckign at chickens, jumping off thunderbluff, killing urself to talk to some1, all those things.

What are types of quests were you thinking of, o gtg, kara in about 15 minutes :D

They make games to have fun, not do what you do in real life.

Hello. I am Tikuto from the Silvermoon realm, Europe.

I do agree it is all the same. It's incredibly repeptative; more specifically meaning boring same old stuff. The except for me, personally, is the social interesation that is repeptative, which does not irritate me too much.

but even then the rewards for all that is bull in COMPARISON to PvE stuff.

I disagree with most of the comments here. If the author had not played the game, you would simply say "you haven't played the game, so what do you know?".

I am not a fan of the game simply because I have seen so many of my friends become obsessed with it. I don't necessarily think it is "bad", but am glad somebody has written negative marks having actually played the game.
